monthly beauty | august

This past month I've attempted to wear less make up. I found it easy to get caught up in all the different make up applications and techniques and while these are all great for special events and photo shoots, a simpler make up routine works best on a day to day basis. Here's a few new favourites that help me achieve just that.

Clarins concealer stick in shade 01
Concealer is something I wear almost every day so it has to be a good one. I've tried a variety of under eye concealers and I can pretty much break it down to five favourites. This one just made the cut. I just recently rediscovered Clarins products as well as tried this concealer for the first time. I first of all love that it's in a stick format which makes it super easy and convenient, especially for on the go. The formula blends nicely and you only need a small amount for full coverage. My issue is under eye dark circles and this instantly brightens up that area.

Chanel joues contraste (blush) in shade 71 Malice
My girlfriends from Germany (one who works for Chanel) just recently gave me this blush for my birthday. I have a small collection of Chanel beauty but had yet to try the blush and this is by far one of the best I've tried. The formula is incredibly lightweight, goes on evenly and gives my cheeks just the right amount of "flush". The best part is that it smells like Chanel perfume. It puts me in a good mood every morning.

MAKE UP FOR EVER ultra HD invisible cover foundation in shade Y255
These HD foundations by MAKE UP FOR EVER continue to impress me. I've been wearing less foundation lately but when I do this one is my go to. I only need one pump (and typically mix it with face cream or sunscreen) and it gives my face just the right amount of coverage. The formula is super lightweight so you don't feel like you are wearing anything on your skin. I've also been warming it up between my fingers and then applying it directly to create a more natural look.
They also have a wide range of shades which makes it easier to match exactly to your skin tone.

NARS satin lip pencil in shade Rikugien
I received this as a duo for my birthday from Sephora. I've been a big fan of NARS lip pencils for some time now because they are easy to apply and always have the best colours. This specific one is truly a universal colour as I tried it on numerous skin tones. It gives your lips a feminine rosy tint that can easily be worn year round. A new favourite in my make up bag.
